It is important that you
understand what your insurance is going to cover and determine if there
is any action you need to take prior to surgery, such as calling your insurance
company to receive pre-admission approval. Our business office is happy
to work with you in getting this information from your insurance company. You are welcome to call the Orthopedic Hospital of Oklahoma at 477-5000.
You can use our Physician
Directory to see if a particular physician accepts your insurance. Select
the type of insurance you carry as the criteria for your search and a list
of physicians that accept that insurance will be generated.

If you are scheduled to have
services at the Orthopedic Hospital of Oklahoma, you will be asked for
information pertaining to your coverage by an insurance company, managed
care plan, Medicare, or other organization that will participate in the
payment or partial payment of your healthcare expenses.
Our business office representatives
will help you understand what you can expect from your health plan, and
validate in advance the amount your health plan will pay for the services
you need.
Communication is the key.
Please let us know if you have questions about financial arrangements,
or concerns about the portion of your hospital bill that you will be expected
to pay. We are eager to provide service in every way possible.
Insurance Claims
As a service to you, the hospital will file all claims for surgical procedures and hospital charges as well as other allowable services with your insurance company.
Some insurance companies may require you to pay for certain services and then file a claim for reimbursement. If this is the case, we will prepare a detailed statement of all services provided at the conclusion of each visit. We will also assist you in anyway we can in your communications with your insurance company.
Managed Care
Orthopedic Hospital of Oklahoma participates in various managed care plans including many PPO and HMO programs. The hospital will file claims for hospital services for those patients who belong to programs in which members of our medical staff participate. As a condition of participation, we require co-payments due on the day of service.
Medicare
Orthopedic Hospital of Oklahoma is Medicare Certified and will accept Medicare’s allowable payment for services. We will file your Medicare claims and bill you for co-insurance and any deductibles. We are also glad to file supplemental or MediGap insurance coverage claims for you.
Self-Insured
If you do not have insurance coverage, charges for healthcare services are due the day services are provided. Account representatives are available to discuss payment schedules that may be helpful in handling your account.
Financial Responsibility
While your insurance, managed care plan, or Medicare benefits may cover all or part of the cost of your healthcare expenses, any amounts not covered by these programs are your responsibility.
If your insurance company has not provided payment within 45 days, we will discuss alternative payment options with you, and continue to assist you in dealing with your healthcare plan.
Orthopedic Hospital of Oklahoma has established fees for services that are considered reasonable and customary. Should your insurance company determine otherwise and withhold payment in full, you are responsible for payment of the balance.
Methods of Payment
For your convenience, payment on your account may be made with cash, personal check, money order, or major credit cards.
If you would like to discuss implementing an extended payment schedule for your account, business office representatives would be glad to discuss this option of payment with you.
