Ultrasound

For the ultrasound test, high frequency sound waves are passed into the body from a small hand-held device called a transducer that is moved along the surface of your skin.  A conductive gel facilitates the transmission of the sound waves through the skin.  As the sound waves bounce off of the underlying structures and tissues, pictures are created on a computer screen.  There is no pain involved in an ultrasound.
