Orthopedic Hospital of Oklahoma

Points to Remember

  • You may experience some stomach upset from the anesthetic, so you may want to have clear liquid (soup or Jell-O) before trying to eat solid foods.
  • Someone will need to drive you home following surgery. You should not operate a car or other heavy machinery until your doctor has given the OK.
  • Avoid strenuous activities. Activities should be limited to those approved by your doctor.
  • Because the residual effects of your anesthesia, and some medication you may be taking for pain, can affect your memory and judgement, you should avoid making important decisions until you no longer require prescribed pain medicine.
