Orthopedic Hospital of Oklahoma

The 1.5T Signa MRI from General Electric Medical Systems is a vital component of the new Imaging Center. The powerful CX magnet and enhanced computer technology combine to produce clear and precise images of the human body, including soft tissues like ligaments and tendons. The system's design also enhances patient comfort during the scan and reduces the restrictive feeling patients sometimes associate with traditional MRI.

The MRI system, which is a 1.5 tesla machine, is five times more powerful and provides 25 times more information than many of the MRI systems that are commonly used.

The magnetic resonance images from your scan will be read by a radiologist, a medical doctor who is trained to interpret the images. The images are transmitted via teleradiology to National Orthopedic Imaging Associates (NOIA), a recognized leader in the interpretation of MRI studies. Members of the group teach other radiologists to interpret MRI scans and have written some of the definitive textbooks on the subject of musculoskeletal imaging. NOIA's participation greatly increases accuracy and efficiency, and directly benefits the physicians and patients who use the Imaging Center.

The images generally reach NOIA radiologists within 20 minutes of your MRI. A complete interpretation is usually available to your doctor within 24 hours. In urgent circumstances, the hospital receives the radiologist's report immediately.

Advanced technology and high-speed connectivity allow the images to be viewed across the country within minutes after they are recorded here.
